Registration and Loan Information
Any person living, paying taxes, or working in Laconia may become a borrower by filling out a registration card and presenting current proof of Laconia residency.
Upon registration, borrowers agree to comply with all library rules, promptly pay for lost or damaged materials, and to give immediate notice of a change of address. Library cards must be presented whenever materials are borrowed; borrowers are responsible for all materials borrowed on their cards.
In respect of the current situation, we are temporarily accepting proof of residency in the form of an emailed photo ID and proof of residency, please email the library at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have you signed up for a new library card? We have a page with some answers to commonly asked questions.
Student cards are available to non-residents attending any school in Laconia.
Non-resident cards may be purchased by those who do not meet the above requirements. Non-resident cards may be purchased for $55 per year and may be used by the entire family.
For Parents/Guardians of children under age 12
As mandated in NH RSA 201-D:11, an individual library cardholder has the right to privacy of information regardless of age. This applies to the juvenile/child library card, while still holding the parent/guardian financially responsible for any lost or damaged materials.
In order for a child to get a library card in their own name, you, as legal guardian, agree to take financial responsibility for any materials taken out on that child’s card. The card must be presented at each transaction if the child is not present.
A parent whose account is not in good standing may not use the juvenile/child card in place of their own.
Laconia Public Library does not charge fines, but prompt returns are requested.
All materials circulate for two weeks and may be renewed twice.
